i was hoping 3aw would do a podcast, but apparently he wrote an article somewhere
a council in nsw banned outdoor smoking simon chapman wrote an article, and did an interview complaining. Because he said second hand smoke in outdoor environments is junk science, which apparently dilutes his legit work
I know I should read the how to post a picture but I've tried before and failed so I'm going to take the time to quote this exactly from today's West Australian newspaper simply because I'm positive there's more to the story than is being reported and as usual its sensationalism bulldust.
Therefore and I quote;
A patient has died of a serious lung disease due to vaping- the first fatality in the world officially linked to e- cigarettes. The unnamed victim,who was under 40,died in the US state of Illinois and was one of 22 patients who have had a vaping related respiratory illness recently. US health officials said many had admitted vaping THC,the compound in cannabis that makes people high. Experts said there was nothing to suggest vaping products could cause acute harm. "These cases appear linked to contaminated e-liquids," Linda Bauld,of Edinburgh university said.
I vaguely remember reading something about this (I think) on ECF but of course it had to appear in a WA newspaper because it's something to fill out a paragraph. I won't quote what I think I remember from there but believe it was proven as juice being sold "on the street" or similar. Could have had anything under the sun in it if that's the case.
Just the bold eye catching words at the top are enough to infuriate me especially when you go on to read under that very heading what the "experts" say. Talk about mind blowingly contradictory.
I'll just leave it there as I'm got to prepare my answers when all the experts I know start quoting it too but FFS!!!!!!
Watch Legion Vapes video on this on YT. There are many others but this I thought was a well considered response to the issue.
Thanks for that and I agree that his response was very balanced and honest. Obviously im unlikely to run into any of these very unfortunate people or their families but will certainly use some of his points as a reply when the inevitable happens.
I understand journalists need to sell papers,or more specifically stories in this day and age but I just wish that facts could be represented as well as he has done in his video. This has been deemed a newsworthy story but it hasn't been researched enough to do so and to literally contradict the headline I find very unprofessional.
