Just thinking - buying concentrates is a very hit and miss thing for newbies and can be expensive so wondering what your top flavors would be for newbies to buy or try
As I am not a fruit lover (outside of banana)
My top picks would be
a plain custard or plain cheesecake
a caramel
a graham cracker
a tobacco
a vanilla or fruit
and a sweetener
What would your top picks for a newbie be in terms of must try flavor concentrates ?

menthol
and a heap of fruits. I know you don't like them, but you pretty much can't make arse juice out of just fruits, your newbie will just get 20 varieties of "fruit punch 1" "fruit punch 2" "fruit cocktail"
and maybe a custard, depending on view on diketones
but other flavours have potential to be very bad if done wrong

I’ve just started DIY (and vaping) and find 8% lemonade was an instant ‘good vape’. Use U4EA juice and concentrates as it’s high quality and within reach money wise.
As a newbie I’ve bought 3 concentrates, rum, cola and lemonade. Rum and coke is good and so is lemonade lol but hey I’ve still got no taste buds!!
Next order I’m getting the whole 30ml range, but first to be mixed will be lemonade and raspberry (I’m going to make a pub style fire engine)!
Looking forward to salted (and burnt) caramel if I can find it.

For DIY, I just keep it simple and stick to pineapple, mango, strawberry and peach. That way I can have a single flavour or have a combination when I want.

FA Bavarian Cream can smooth a tobacco flavour and add complexity. You don't need much - 1/3 of a percent. Most new DIYers don't figure out the subtlety of adjunct flavouring until much later.
JuiceWhore tobacco blend is a perfect base for a tobacco vape - it's in their signature range.
Menthol is indispensible. Sooner or later you are going to need it. This, coming from someone who hated menthol cigarettes. A tiny bit in your ADV can keep it tasting fresh and staves off flavour fatigue. Buy crystals and make your own - it's the cheapest flavour ingredient possible if you do it this way. If I couldn't afford to buy any flavours, I'd vape menthol.
Cooling agent makes drink and fruit flavours 10 times better. Also indispensible.
A light acid lemon flavour - brightens up any berry flavour and brings it to life. This is an adjunct flavouring addition too.
Malic acid for sherbert type flavours, tart fruits and as an adjunct flavour does the same thing as the lemon.
Don't ask me about bakery flavours, we don't get on for the most part. Maybe one day I'll figure it out.

Personally I would recommend picking up some FA MTS Vape Wizard & INW Cactus. (use sparingly)
MOLINBERRY GLAMOUR CHOCOLATE!!!!
Also the new CAP Silverline concentrates are worth looking at. I picked up Rainbow Candy to play with. So far I'm impressed with its usability.
Generally speaking I'd just parrot DIYorDIE recommendations such as
TFA Strawberry Ripe CAP Sweet Strawberry CAP Vanilla Custard TFA/FW/CAP Vanilla Bean Icecream etc
